The Tax Fairness for Realtors Act, 2015 is being reintroduced in the Ontario Legislature by PC MPP Todd Smith and Liberal MPP Mike Colle. If passed, it would give REALTORS® the ability to operate their business through a personal real estate corporation (PREC).

It’s time for REALTORS® to be treated fairly
Currently, the Real Estate and Business Brokers Act, 2002 (REBBA), prevents real estate salespeople from operating their business through a PREC.
Many other regulated professions in Ontario, including chartered accountants, lawyers, health professionals, social workers, mortgage brokers, architects and engineers, can all form personal or professional corporations.
The ability to incorporate would allow a REALTOR®, depending on their level of business income, to save money on their income tax by taking advantage of the lower corporate tax rate.
You help is needed!
Please tell your MPP that it’s time Ontario treats real estate professionals fairly by allowing them to form PRECs. Send an email urging your MPP to support this bill by clicking on thislink.
If you receive a response from your MPP, please forward it to OREA’s government relations department at governmentrelations@orea.com.
