The Government of Ontario announced their Five-Year Climate Change Action Plan and included in the plan is a home energy rating and disclosure program (HER&D).
HER&D is a mandatory home energy audit regime for single-family homes that require a homeowner to conduct an energy audit before they list their home. The proposed program will require the seller to include the audit score on their listing whenever it is posted to a "listing service." The government is proposing that this requirement take effect in 2019.
TREB and OREA have been in consultation with government on this proposal. The industry is opposed to the mandatory requirement of the proposed program. Click here to read our industry submission.
